Balance + Concussion Center Reflects on 2023

The holiday season is here and 2023 is quickly coming to an end.  This year has continued to be a busy one for the Balance + Concussion Center.  We are continuously grateful for the professional relationships we have within our community that support our work, and we are even more grateful for each of you.  Physical Therapy and Vestibular Rehabilitation is more than a job for us.  It is our passion and our goal to help each of you to the best of our ability.  We learn from you every day and are thankful that you trust us to care for you when you are not feeling your best.

2023 has brought about continued growth and involvement in our community.  We continue to offer Balance Strong! and Move Strong! classes and hope that these grow into the new year.  Our bimonthly support group, the “Invisible Illness Support Group”, had excellent virtual and in-person attendance this year.  We were able to bring in some exciting guest speakers, including a dietician, neuropsychologist, and social worker to speak with our members.  Our relationship with VeDA, the Vestibular Disorders Association, continues to be a meaningful one for us as well.  Dana serves on the presidential board of the organization and brings their international events to our clinic each year including Steps-2-Balance and Balance Awareness Week.  We featured our first annual “Flock Walk” to raise awareness for vestibular disorders and hope to grow this event in 2024!  Dana presented several classes in the community in partnership with McHenry County College on balance disorders, headache disorders, and concussion management.  She also shared all about the profession of physical therapy with the Med Club at Prairie Ridge High School.  Finally, we were thrilled to add the addition of Jennifer Myatt, PTA, to our Balance+Concussion Center team.  She is an invaluable asset to our center and we are fortunate to have her skills, compassion, and enthusiasm for all things vestibular as part of our organization.

There are many things to look forward to in the coming new year as well.  We have some exciting growth planned for the Balance+Concussion Center in 2024 and we look forward to sharing this news with you as it unfolds!  We are also in the process of designing new classes and opportunities for all of you.  If there is something that you would like to learn about next year or a program idea that would be valuable to you, please let us know!  We want to bring information and classes that are valuable to YOU!

Again, thank you for trusting us to provide you with physical therapy and vestibular rehabilitation services.  We appreciate getting to work with each of you, and wish you nothing but the best in good health and happiness for the New Year!

Wishing you the best of health,

Dana Tress
