This flat and fast race is a personal record waiting to happen! The McHenry County Patriot Run offers a 5k, 5 mile, and 1 mile run for the entire family. The course starts and ends at McHenry County College and is also open to strollers and dogs! All proceeds are donated directly back to the veterans of McHenry County.
The Zephyrs Middle School Running Club focuses on building a strong foundation, mentally and physically, for middle school aged runners. The program is specifically designed as pre-season Cross Country training. We focus our education around running technique, speedwork, strength, volume building, and so much more. We are very passionate about building strong groundwork in the athletes so that they can advocate for themselves as high school and adult runners.
This swim/run event takes place at the beautiful Three Oaks Recreation Center in Crystal Lake. The swim takes place in the manmade quarry and the run is a combination of trail, sand, and pavement. The event offers a Sprint and Olympic distance with relay options for both races, 2 open water swim distances, and a kids race. All proceeds are donated to Girls on The Run of Northwest Illinois, a nonprofit that helps teach critical life skills to young girls at a vital age when confidence and physical activity typically declines.
The best tour of Crystal Lake is offered on course during the Crystal Lake Half Marathon and 12k. Enjoy the 360 view of Crystal Lake, the Dole Mansion, the Crystal Lake Country Club, The Illinois Prairie Path, and Downtown Crystal Lake all in one race! This fast and flat course is spectator friendly and offers a great opportunity to set a personal record. The after party also promises good food, beer, and time to reflect on and celebrate your accomplishment with your friends!
This month-long program inspires elementary school aged children to run a half marathon over the course of a month! They find their running buddy and log 12 miles together over 4 weeks. They will also participate in group meetups with all participants and learn the basics of running. The program concludes as they run the 13th mile of the Crystal Lake Half Marathon with the rest of the racers, collect their finishers medal, and are finally able to call themselves a Half Marathoner!
This seasonal favorite 5k and 1 mile race is sure to bring out your holiday cheer! Register for the McHenry County Santa Run and receive a Santa Suit or a long sleeve t-shirt, race through the streets of Downtown Crystal Lake, and enjoy your hot coffee afterwards! The race is open to strollers and dogs, offers a flat course, and is a great way to kick off the holiday season with the entire family! All proceeds for this race are donated to local charities that work with children in need.
