Smith Physical Therapy + Running Academy is excited to welcome Brad Boelkens to our clinic!

Brad is the owner of Optimal Muscle Performance, where he specialized in working one-on-one with clients using Muscle Activation Technique (MAT).

Brad has worked as a certified personal trainer since 1996, helping enhance the lives of hundreds of clients of all ages and varying degrees of physical
abilities and goals. In 2013, he earned his certification as a Muscle Activation Technique Specialist, and now uses MAT to focus on improving muscle
function and strength in a progressive, safe manner, implementing exercises based on the uniqueness of the individual. Whether the client’s goals are
to improve performance in their competitive sport or favorite activity, prevent injury, overcome physical challenges or pain, or to simply improve
overall quality of life, Brad is 100% committed to their needs, serving with compassion, professionalism, and respect.

MAT is a unique process used to specifically identify and correct muscular dysfunction in the body.

The goal of MAT is to optimize the function of muscles. Improving the function of the muscle system through the MAT process will provide the following
benefits:

- Increase in joint mobility and stability

- Increase in strength

- Increase in athletic performance

- Decrease in muscle “tightness” and hypertonicity

- Decrease in movement compensations

- Decrease in pain

- Injury Prevention

Follow up exercises, highly specific to the individual are recommended to further optimize and enhance the function and strength of the muscles. When muscles
are functioning the way they’re designed to, you move better, perform better, and feel better!
