Meet Our New Physical Therapist - Ashley Dougvillo

I always knew I wanted to do something within healthcare but it took some time in college to find that my true calling was Physical Therapy. Besides the obvious perk of being able to help people physically heal, I truly enjoy getting to really know and talk with my patients during the meaningful 1:1 time we have. This is a big component of why I’ve joined the team at Smith PT. Previously, I worked as a therapist and manager at one of the bigger PT companies and while I saw and treated a high number of patients every week, I wasn’t able to focus on what mattered - connecting with my patients to ensure they were receiving the highest level of care possible.

With Smith PT, patient care and rehabilitation is not only the focus, it is everything! I have gained a number of certifications over the years which include Astym, kinesiotaping, the Pose Method of running, FMS/SFMA, and am also a certified manual therapist. I enjoy reading, cooking (especially baking), and I love being outside. Over the past few years my interest in running has evolved from shorter runs, to longer runs (I ran the Chicago marathon in 2016) to trail running. There is just something about being able to connect with nature while running that just sets trail running apart from anything else. Not to mention, the trail running community is truly unique in their inclusivity and if you can’t tell, connecting with people is something I certainly enjoy.

Currently, I am training for my second 50k this August in Upper Michigan, and with the heat we’ve been having lately, I am looking forward to these long training runs being behind me. But that’s enough about me. I am beyond excited to be part of the Smith PT family and I’m in the clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays so please stop by to say “Hi”!
